Glossary-9
An OSx station that monitors the application process and communicates
with the control node. Unlike a supervisory station, itdoesnotstore
trending and other historical data or allow the compilation of reports or
BCL and RDT programs.
Contains data related to the tags that are supervised by OSx. Typically, the
data in this database is stored and referenced by tag:attribute
combinations.
Composed of all standard OSx programs, directories, and tables;usedwith
RDT.
S7 library of function blocks that can be used as tags for control and
monitoring on OSx.
Linux-based work station of the PCS 7 product line, formerly PCS
operations node. The OSx station controls and monitors the application
process by the exchange of data with the control nodes; it can be either a
supervisory or an operator station.
The spreadsheet version of reports produced by the Reports Editor.
An OSx station must be assigned this role before being separately shut
down or deleted from the database. Use the out_of_service role to run
diagnostic alarm card failover circuit tests.
Role of the OSx station that is responsible for coordinating system
functions and maintaining the reference copy of the database for the
SIMATIC PCS 7 OSx system. Only one OSx station can have the primary
role at any given time.
A collection of tags, alarms, action requests, and user IDs that are
associated with each other for reasons of function or security.
Table in the OSx database that contains the actual data taken from the
process being controlled. A process I/O table exists for each type of tag.
A form of temporary internal storage whose contents can be retrieved and
altered. Also called read-and-write memory.
Report by Exception occurs when certain data is reported by the control
node automatically, without a demand scan from an OSx station.
Examples include alarms and alarm acknowledgements, the automatic
logging of messages, action requests, BCL jobs, and recipe handshaking
exchanges. Only status attributes can be used to trigger RBE.
