Additional functions via the

PC interface

You can connect your handset to your

computer via Bluetooth (

¢ page 61) or

via the supplied USB data cable. If you

want to use the Bluetooth connection,

your computer must be equipped with a

suitable dongle. To transfer data via the

USB port, you must install the driver soft-

ware from the supplied CD before con-

necting the USB data cable (

¢ page 17).

To enable your handset to communicate

with the PC the "Gigaset QuickSync"

program must be installed on your PC

(free to download at www.gigaset.com/

gigasetSL780).

Transferring data

You can synchronise your telephone direc-

tory with Outlook using the "Gigaset

QuickSync" program (see the program's

help functions).

During the transfer of data between hand-

set and PC, you will see Data transfer in

progress on the display. During this time

the keypad is disabled, and incoming calls

will be ignored.

Completing a firmware update

¤ Connect you phone to your PC using

the USB data cable supplied

(

¢ page 17).

¤ Start the "Gigaset QuickSync" program

on your PC.

¤ Establish a connection to your handset.

¤ Select [Settings] ¢ [Device proper-

ties] to open the [Device] tab

¤ Click on [Firmware update]

This launches the firmware update.

The data is initially loaded from the

update server on the Internet. The

amount of time this takes is dependent on

the speed of your Internet connection.

The display on your phone is switched off

and the message key f and the hands-

free key d start flashing.

The update process can take up to 10 min-

utes (not including the download time).

Do not interrupt the process or remove

the USB data cable. Once the update is

complete, your phone will automatically

restart.

Procedure in case of an error

If your phone does not work properly fol-

lowing the update, repeat the update

process. If you cannot establish a connec-

tion to the PC, proceed as follows:

¤ Remove the USB data cable from the

telephone

¤ Remove the battery (¢ page 13)

¤ Press and hold keys 4 and L

simultaneously

¤ Replace the battery

¤ Reconnect the USB cable

¤ Release keys 4 and L simultane-

ously

Proceed as described under "Completing

a firmware update".

Please note

u If Bluetooth is activated and the sup-

plied USB data cable is inserted in

the connection socket

(

¢ page 17), Bluetooth is automat-

ically deactivated.

– If a Bluetooth voice connection

has already been established,

Bluetooth is not deactivated until

it is ended.

– If a Bluetooth data connection

has already been established,

the response depends on the

receiving device.

u Bluetooth is automatically reacti-

vated when the USB data cable is

removed.

u If Bluetooth is deactivated and the

USB data cable is plugged in, then

Bluetooth cannot be activated.
