Testing XMU+ Line Connections
LS/LR SP NC - Level Start/Level Return single play, CP relay normally
closed.
PS/LR NO - Pulse Start/Level Return, CP relay normally open.
PS/LR NC - Pulse Start/Level Return, CP relay normally closed.
PS/PR NO - Pulse Start/Pulse Return, CP relay normally open.
PS/PR NC - Pulse Start/Pulse Return, CP relay normally closed.
CP - Continuous Play, no relay toggle.
CP NO - Continuous Play, CP relay normally open. (Default for low
impedance line cards.)
CP NC - Continuous Play, CP relay normally closed.
SCP NO - Synchronized Continuous Play, CP relay normally open.
SCP NC - Synchronized Continuous Play, CP relay normally closed.
Off-line - Line will not operate.
9. If required (for operating modes R, RN, RB, RB+, RT, RT+ and RD), press the
Right Arrow button until you reach the desired ring limit, and press Enter. The
ring limit is the number of cycles (rings) that the XMU+ will wait before
answering the line (default is 1).
10. Press Exit until the menu returns to the main display.
11. If operating mode R is selected, perform a line check.

12. Record the line card operation modes in the Delivery
Checklist. See The XMU+ Delivery Checklist on page 21.
To test lines
1. Collect all applicable telephone (line) numbers.
2. Record all telephone numbers in the Delivery Checklist.
See The XMU+ Delivery Checklist on page 21.
3. Ring the appropriate line by dialing the telephone number.
If the XMU+:
Answers and the message plays, the line cards are properly cabled.
Does not answer or the message does not play, troubleshoot. See If XMU+
Is Not Answering on page 121 for more information.
4. Repeat step 3 until all the lines have been tested.
